More about menopause symptoms

January 3, 2012 – 9:50 pm

As women age, many of their physical changes are triggered or exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations. A change in your periods might be the first menopause symptoms you notice. Pain, soreness, or tenderness in one or both breasts often precedes or accompanies menstrual periods but can also occur during pregnancy, breast-feeding, and menopause.
A number of tests has revealed that post-menopausal women may not get enough vitamin D in their diets, which can contribute to a range of dangerous health problems, including abdominal obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease, as well as a number of cancers. For some women menopause is a time they dread — they are worried that as they age they will become less powerful, less attractive, or just not themselves when hormonal imbalance takes over.
